Featured Trail: Chimney Gulch
The Chimney Gulch Trail is my favorite local hike. It takes around 4 hours to walk from the Golden Guest House to the “M” at the top of Mt. Zion and back. Start across the street at the Clear Creek History Park and walk up Clear Creak to the Chimney Gulch trailhead signpost. The signpost is located just below 6th Avenue, near the second bridge you’ll see on your way up the creek.
The trail is mildly technical at times, but easy enough for kids and older folks. Only about 10% of this hike is in the shade, so bring lots of water when it’s hot out. Remember to yield to bikes and be aware of your surroundings. |

Featured Trail: Clear Creek Canyon
|
The Golden Guest House is across the street from from Clear Creek. Walk up the creek trail into the canyon by following the paved path upstream. Kayakers, inner tubers, and spectators line the banks of the creek until you pass under 6th Avenue to the unpaved section of the trail.
For now the trail ends at the diversion station, sending walkers either up the Church Ditch tributary, or back the way they came. The third bridge along this walk will take you to the climbing area on the south banks of the creek. Or follow that same trail back toward town to meet up with the Chimney Gulch Trail. |
Featured Trail: South Table Mesa - Castle Rock
The South Mesa has miles of trails with many access points, and varying levels of technicality. I recommend walking to 19th and Belvedere to begin with gentle switch backs which will take you to Castle Rock (the prominent piece of the Mesa featured in the original Coors logo) and beyond. Bring water, and wear proper shoes.

Featured Trail: North Table Mountain Park
|
North Table Mountain Park has miles of trails for cyclists, hikers, and climbers. Trails can be loose and steep at times. Expect to see wildlife and always keep an eye out for rattle snakes. Find this trail head by driving north on 93 as though you’re headed for Boulder. Look for the large North Table Mountain Park sign on the right to find plenty of free parking.
