I am a self employed interior designer who recently moved back to Golden to open The Golden Guest House. I have loved this town since first moving here in 1998–just five houses west of here—and I hope to spend the rest of my days hosting visitors.
909 11th Street was purchased from the original owners, Frank and Verma Werber in 2014 under the condition that it be restored, rather than redeveloped. They built the house in 1952 by themselves when the block was first divided into residential lots (Golden City Brewery was the original homestead). They raised their family here, and were much beloved by neighbors who still stop by to tell stories of Frank and Verma’s kindness, and old fashioned work ethic. Today Frank’s rose bushes still thrive, and the original light fixture remains above the front door where Verma greeted family and neighborhood friends. I will always be grateful for their decision to trust me with their home.
I now teach art classes on site with my 7 year old daughter. We learn about art, but also keep an eye on being good world citizens. Adult art classes may be coming soon. We live in the garden level unit 50% of the time.
